When Global Talent Meets Enterprise Reality: The 2025 AWS Global Agentic AI Hackathon

What happens when you give 3,261 innovators from 45 countries two weeks to solve real business problems?

You get 474 AI agents, 132 breakthrough solutions, and a glimpse into the future of enterprise automation.

The 2025 AWS Global Agentic AI Hackathon wasn't your typical employee engagement event. This was problem-solving at scale, where 404 teams tackled real pain points across four of Capgemini's business lines alongside AWS's powerful AI toolkit.

💡When Innovation Meets Necessity

Capgemini wasn't looking for flashy demos or proof-of-concepts destined for digital shelves. They needed production-ready solutions for daily challenges faced across four critical internal business areas:

  • Cloud & Custom Applications (C&CA)
  • Insights & Data (I&D)
  • Engineering, Research & Development (ER&D)
  • Invent

🤝 The AWS Partnership

With AWS Bedrock, SageMaker, and Q Developer as the foundation, participants had access to enterprise-grade AI infrastructure from day one. Here, hackers were equipped to create agents that could integrate into real business workflows.

🪨 The Learning Foundation

Before a single line of code was written, participants engaged in upskilling and chose their learning path:

  • Developers: Amazon Bedrock - Get Started (foundational onboarding to AWS's Gen AI platform)
  • Non-Developers: Generative AI Learning Plan for Decision Makers

This dual-track approach ensured both technical builders and business strategists could contribute their specialized expertise effectively.

📈 Execution at Scale

Managing 400+ teams across 45 countries required precision planning:

  • Virtual-first design with regional time zone considerations
  • Dedicated mentors for technical and business guidance
  • Real-time support channels via AWS and Capgemini experts
  • Structured milestone checkpoints to maintain momentum

The challenge wasn't just technical — it was orchestrating a global innovation event where teams could access expert guidance regardless of geography and skillsets.

🏆 The Top 3 Solutions

🥇 Hackonauts (I&D)

What We Learned: Insights from the Frontier

Agentic AI Is Ready for Prime Time

Unlike previous hackathons focused on single AI applications, this event proved that multi-agent systems can handle complex, real-world business processes. Teams didn't just build chatbots — they created well-orchestrated AI systems.

The Power of Real Problems

When participants know their solutions could actually be deployed, engagement skyrockets. Every team approached their challenge with startup-level intensity because the problems were genuine and the potential impact was measurable.

Global Talent + Cloud Infrastructure = Magic

The combination of worldwide expertise and enterprise-grade AWS tools created solutions that may typically take months to develop. Our model of large-scale global innovation across thousands of employees, reshapes the timeline and enterprise approach to rapid prototyping

Looking Forward: The Agentic Future

This hackathon wasn't just an event. It was a preview of how businesses will solve problems in an AI-first era. When human creativity combines with powerful AI platforms and real business challenges, the results exceed expectations.

A Win-Win-Win (How Everyone Benefits):

  • AWS: Prove that their agentic AI platform can support enterprise-scale innovation at global velocity.
  • Capgemini: A pipeline of 132 potential solutions, plus 3,000+ newly-upskilled AI experts across their organization.
  • Participants: A career-defining experience building production-ready AI agents that solve real business problems for clients

The question isn't whether agentic AI will transform business operations — it's how quickly organizations can adapt to harness its full potential.

The 2025 AWS Global Agentic AI Hackathon proved that the future of enterprise AI is already here, and it's being built by the next generation of AI learners.
